We stayed in Curitiba for 2 nights to get further along in our journey. The town has a population of 1.5 million, but does not seem as crowded as Porto Alegre.
We stayed in the downtown area at the Palace Hotel, it was nice enough...it is in an old mansion from the 1800's. We had a balcony that looked over the street and it was nice to people watch. We had a TV but we REALLY don't unerstand ANYTGHING at all right now since they do not speak english or spanish ONLY portuguese!! Vic and I look at each other and have to use alot of sign language. We have learned a few helpful words... Bom dia (good morning), Obri gado (thank you), Oy (hello) and Vic's favorite...ovo (egg) for breakfast. When you hear it, it sounds like a eastern european language.
We relaxed for a day and bought tickets the following day for our train ride to the town of Morettes that would get us closer to the beaches.
