This morning my cousin Ann's son David came over to help unload the truck – and what a huge help he was! He’s really strong and we got everything into the basement apartment and some furniture into Auntie Jean’s basement super quickly. I feel so much calmer and in control now, knowing that everything I own is here and I can find places to put it. I’m starting to unpack what doesn’t need to stay in boxes…like hanging clothes in the closet, putting clothes in my dresser, etc.
I wish I could live here for a few weeks, settled like this, until I had to pack yet again and leave for Rwanda. But no such luck! That was my choice after all. I could have moved home from New York earlier but I wasn’t willing to sacrifice the time there. I was busy working, teaching ESL and generally having lots of fun going out with friends. It’s been an awfully long time since I had that much fun and I deserved it! If I’m crunched now, it was worth it!
