Had a quiet morning looking through the local suburb where I was staying and the longer I am in Italy it makes me realize how lucky I am to be living in Australia. I don't think it is the cleanest of countries and I'm sure most of the population are smokers which is something I will not miss. Found a cute little cake/patisserie shop which of course had alcohol too. Had 2 little cakes and one freshly squeezed OJ. While I was there people just ducking in for a coffee or drink and just standing at the counter for a short time then off on their merry way. Caught the train to Zurich this afternoon and had to change trains at the border and then spent 2 hours just admiring the beautiful scenery along the way. It is everything I have been told and have pictured. Once we got into Switzerland the alps appeared out of no where and I got my first glimpse of snow. Everything is so so green and coming through the country regions got to see lots of traditional houses, farms and scenery. It all looked so fresh after leaving Italy which seemed to be in a continual smog haze. There is water cascading down mountains and of course numerous huge lakes and rivers. Everywhere there are tunnels and trains snaking their way along the steep slopes. The hotel I'm staying at is really cute and 10 minutes walk from the station. Right in the heart of town.
