Had a massive sleep in this morning. It was 9.45am when I woke up but I needed it as I was really tired. My room is really dark so I think it helped. Anyway it set the pace for the day - very easy going. Did a bit of washing and sorting out further train trips and accommodation bookings. Caught the local bus into the town centre where the big Cathedral is and WOW another huge piece of artistic construction. It was so big I couldn't really get it in my photo. Lots of grand buildings around the whole town centre and the main street has all the designer label shops. So I was mixing it with all the high flyers shopping, well just looking. Took lots of photos of this seasons winter fashions. Most stores had security people at the entrances and also walking inside. Lots of fashionably dressed people shopping. Felt a bit of a country bumpkin with my denim skirt and Birkenstocks but hey I was comfortable. Not like some of the heels being walked around carrying all their designer bags. Then found this store which had all the Italian and other designer shoes. It was a big promotion - buy 1 pair get discount on the second. Waiters walking around with Moët champagne, a DJ and trendsetters with their dogs. Some of the shoes were so unusual and of course expensive. Tried a pair on worth $995 just for the thrill. Did manage to find some much much much cheaper ones that I bought. The leather is so soft and the shoes feel so comfortable as soon as you put them on. Milano is a much cleaner and more modern city compared to Rome and Florence. I would say its been my favourite apart from Venice which is a totally different city. Think you would have to have a lot of money to live here and be part of the whole Milano scene but it would be nice. Unfortunately haven't found that rich Italian?!?!?
