Where I stayed
Barcelo Premium
It stopped raining upon arrival. Apparently, it had rained 3 days straight. I received a very warm welcome from the staff I had the pleasure of meeting the year before. I awoke to a beautiful day. Guess I brought my own sunshine. Checked into the Premium Club and spent a good portion of the day by their hot tub unfortunately, tepid was more like it, but refreshing after sitting in the hot sun.
First, I had my breakfast which was perfect and the service excellent. Carlos was my server last year and he is still here which is why I like to stay at the Barceló. My friends from Germany returned as well.
After a few hours by the hot tub, I decided to go to the beach. No sooner than I put my foot in the sand, I was bombarded by blue shirts trying to sell their wares. First, someone wanted to braid my hair. No thanks. Next, jewellery. No thanks. A few no thanks and then they leave you alone.
Marta, Hans and I had supper together last night at the Chinese Restaurant. First, we were served entrees which were delicious, an assortment of sushi, shrimp, eggrolls and chicken sattay. I had chicken lo mein as my main course followed by fried bananas and ice cream. Their company was great and the food wasn't terrible.
It is 7 a.m. Montreal time. Dominican time is an hour ahead. It rained again last night and I awoke to a magnificent day. Right now it is very comfortable but it looks like it is going to be a scorcher.
So far my plans are to have breakfast and hit the beach. Not a cloud in the sky and the sun is shining.
I’ll check in either later tonight or tomorrow morning.
