"Urquell" in German or "Prazdroj" in Czech both mean "original source". The Urquell (Prazdroj) trade mark was created in 1898, to underline the claim of being the older, original source of Pilsner beer.

Certainly, the main purpose of our trip to Pilsen was a visit to its beer-sights. Unfortunately, Karlsbad (the westernmost point of our journey, btw) took more time than we planned (though it was spent great) and at the time of our arrival to Pilsen the Old Brewery Museum was already closed. So we went directly to the famous Plzeňskı Prazdroj brewery. The historical gates which you may observe on the Prazdroj beer emblem are still there as well as many other buildings from the first times of Bürgerbrauerei  and famous Jozef Groll (1842).

The city of Pilsen was also a home to professor Josef Skoda and original Skoda factory. Unfotunately, we had no time to visit the factory museum and other museums including famous Pilsner dungeons. We spent the remaining time to just cruise the very centre of the historical downtown (with a little hook to the Great Sinagogue, the second largest in Europe) and splendid little parks near the city centre.

I would also like to mention that there are really not many gas stations on minor Bohemian roads: we had to drive 30-40 km with virtually "zero" in our tank (and naturally some 50 km before) today until we've finally found some petrol. Though the fear of staying for a night in one of these valleys (the landscape is hilly) was seriously downsized by how beautiful these picturesque valleys are :)

And now I have some things to do. A bottle of a very special "Zlaty Master" brewed here and bought right from the factory store is standing next to me. So cheers! :)
