One of the things that the girls like most about out hotel in Singapore is the pool. Every time we come here they spend hours splashing about, sliding down the water slide and frolicking under the imitation waterfalls. Georgie had fun trying out her new underwater video camera .

After extracting the mermaids from the pool we headed down to Clarke Quay to check out the glamorous looking restaurants. The plan was to get a snack in early - satay was our goal, and then stroll about eating where we pleased. I tried to talk Jess into stopping at the Singapore branch of 'Hooters' (not really). 'Why have those women got such small shorts on?'  Maggie asked me. 'Umm... I think it's to get people to come into the restaurant.' I said. 'Well it's working' Maggie observed. 'Look at all those men in there.'

The girls found a fountain that they could run through. 'We promise not to get too wet.' Georgie rashly promised. Of course it wasn't long before they were both soaked to the skin. We wandered around Clarke Quay waiting for the girls to stop dripping before we could go into a restaurant. We liked the look of Renn Thai and chose a table overlooking the river. we ordered satay sticks and beer and wine and ate a leisurely snack while watching the bum boats putting back and forward along the river. Afterwards we ambled along the riverfront to have supper at an Italian deli and pastry cafe called Ricciotti (http://www.lifestylewiki.com/Ricciotti). Jess and I shared a panna cotta (OK but nothing special) and a cannoli (absolutely superb) while the girls had a hot chocolate and a nice bowl of gelati.

After this, even though it was only about 9 o'clock we were all exhausted so headed home for an early night.
