Bonjour,
I hope everyone at home is doing well. Things are picking up over here, now that classes have started. In general, I have class every morning from 9-12, and a class from 3:30-5ish on Mondays and Tuesday. I'm taking French Civ and also Medieval Architecture. My French Civ class has been VERY boring so far...I won't mention any names, but the prof has been reading out of his guidebook instead of teaching. Grr... On the other hand, Professor Saint-Denis, who is a prof here at the Universite de Bourgogne, is fabulous! He prepares great powerpoints and speaks slowly, clearly, and pointedly, so we all understand plus we cover a lot of information. I'm learning all about the different architectural styles from the "moyen age classique." I don't have too much homework though, just a few pages of reading each night.
Also, I have made friends with the group of foreign exchange students who live on my floor, mostly Italian and a few others from Austria and Belgium. They make dinner together every night in the kitchenette and are lots of fun. Even though French is a second language for them, too, I sure couldn't tell! I'm glad that they'll be staying for several more weeks, because not only do they crack me up, but chatting with them for an hour or so every night should do wonders for my speaking and listening skills.
This evening, the Franco-Anglo club is putting on a play called "The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged) without Hamlet" Sounds pretty fun, plus it's free, so that should keep me busy tonight!
:) Kate

Hi Kate!
I greatly enjoy your little travel log. My computer at home won't let me read it so I am reading it at the library now. I think I will have to come to get filled in every once in a while. Anyway, glad you are having fun. I am very excited to here about all the food info because we both know that is my favorite subject! Good luck in your classes and hopefully they will get less boring. You are going to be quite the French girl i am sure.
Time to buy the beret!
Miss Kate, I'm very sorry that you have no homework:) but I'm sure you will make some up!!! Fill us in on the co-ed showering. Mom
