So, as said before, massive delazs on my first flight caused me to get into Berlin a bit later than expected. While riding the bus from the airport to the tourist office, I noticed a large sign for a hostel. What nice luck, eh?

After checking in and chatting a bit with a couple of my 9 roommates, i ventured into the streets for some quick food before bed. Not 20 feet from the doors to the hostel is a stand with assorted stuff. First thing on the list.... currywurst. I like curry, and I like wurst, so why not? Aside from the fact that it tasted like cardboard wrapped in cardboard sprinkled with ground up cardboard, waking up at 6 am with the worst diarrhea of my life might be one good reason. It started out as standard runs, but quickly progressed into completely liquid state. I think it may have even evolved past liquid form and into the gaseous state, but I cant be sure.

That wasnt the only of my bodily functions malfunctioning, though. Either I suffered a drastic withdrawl from the nasal decongestant I used for only 24 hours (doubtful, but i hope this is the case), or I am allergic to the material in my sleeping bag, or perhaps just the german countrz as a whole. Empirical observations will continue, to be reported on later. I am a seasoned veteran when dealing runny nose, congestion, etc, but what i have right now is just ridiculous. Blowing mz nose in a traditional sense is not possible. I wouldnt dream of using my nose for its intended purpose, smelling. I can, however, squeeyze the upper part of my nose every five minutes or so, resulting in a teastpoon of jelly-like snot dropping out.

Still, though, the worst part of the trip thus far has been the epic battle with the german keyboard for the rights to proper spelling and punctuation. I have been losing, for the most part.

Despite the rocky start, i am still having a great time and thereńs nowhere i would rather be at the moment. Today i plan to sort out a campground, do some sort of basic tour, self guided or otherwise, followed by some activities or destinations to be determined by my guidebook research.

Robert out!

Just plain halarious!
Hey Robert,
It's so nice to hear/read from you on your blog. The mucus comments had me cracking up at my desk this morning... I graduated the MT program yesterday and I am now a full blown stockroom manager. Woo Hoo! Keep posting your blogs, and I'll continue to remain an avid fan. Good luck on getting rid of the runs! You may want to call them the sprints...
Love,
Louise
