Where I stayed
Pacentro B&B

Flag of Italy  , Abruzzo,
Saturday, September 18, 2010

After we left the coast we headed west towards Rome.  Before we left Gordon found a small, mountain town in Abruzzo called Pacentro.  From the pictures on line, it looked pretty cool.  It looked like someone glued this town to the side of the mountains, with more stairs than streets, both about 5 feet wide.  The only problem was that there was no mention of this town in the LP, so where to stay?.  We found an entry about the town on Wikipedia that mentioned a club in Detroit for people from the town.  We searched for the club's website, emailed a general email to the member's email addresses listed and waited.  We had one reply from about 15 emails, a woman who grew up in Pacentro and had a cousin, Stefania, that ran a B&B there.  We were put in touch with her and ended up staying in her B&B.  Upon arriving in the town, surprisingly we could not find it.  We decided to park the car and head out on foot.  We walked and walked and no luck.  We then approached some of the locals who were sitting around watching walk up and down.  We tried to ask for Pacentro B&B in our poor Italian accent and had no luck.  We then said "Stefania" and we escorted to her B&B by an elderly Italian woman.
The next day we packed up the car and headed to airport to return the car, then trained it to the city for our last night.  Since we have both been to Rome before we walked around with no agenda taking pictures.
The next day, after a three hour stuck on the plane delay we headed home to San Diego.

Below are two links, one for the Picasa pictures and the other for a Tripwow video of the pictures set to music.  We hope you have enjoyed our blog and look forward to traveling with you to Morocco, Turkey, Vietnam or ?????
