We needed to be in Ranong early as we had to do a visa run to Burma. Thai visas are only for 30 days and our one would run out soon. It seemed all very dodgy really. We were shuttled to a wharf where we had to climb across boats to get to the dodgy looking one that would bring us - and other visa stamp seekers - across to Burma. On the way, we stopped at some sort of outpost, where we handed our visas over to 'officials'?! to assess - that was a bit daunting. Loads of other boats swarmed around us for the same purpose so I guess that was somewhat reassuring.
On the Burmese mainland, the immigration office is right beside the pier, so we spent spent no longer than a wonderful 10 minutes in Burma, before heading back to Ranong and jumping on the return bus back to Phuket. Next stop, Koh Phi Phi.
