We came through here to get the ferry boat to Koh Payam. The ferry wharf stunk worse than anything I have smelled in my life.
It was a pretty quirky boat ride though. A boat travels twice a day from the mainland and it mostly ferries supplies for the island and locals who travel to the mainland for shopping/ medical visits etc. The boat looks like it's about 50 years old, and they pull up the planks to store the island supplies underneath. There are no life-jackets supplied and it's all very traditional and untouristic.
We felt like we were real travellers, veering off the beaten track and judging by the well-travelled backpackers, we were in for a a different experience this time.
I was just happy to pull out from that nasty smelling pier...
