Day 5
Meteora, Greece
Friday 4/10/09

First, we drove through the town of Kastraki, which is at the base of these huge cliffs. Our hotel was called the Doupani house. These cliffs were insane they were tall and skinny. Just peeking over the cliff was a roof, and that roof belonged to monetary. The monasteries are famous in meteora because they were built on top of these huge cliffs. In about 1356 (was when they started building Megalo Meteora Monks came to Greece for refuge from wars how they even got up these was the built scaffolding a long the walls of the cliff and when they needed food they would wait quietly for a bird to land then grab it eat it and then keep moving. During the holocaust Nazis tried to put there flag on one of the monasteries next to there Greek flags and ended up on the ground. We will go visit them tomorrow.

Day 6
Meteora, Greece'
Saturday 4/11/09
Today we wake up and go see the monasteries. They are wonderful. The first one we see the best and the biggest. It's a really long hike up to it. I am dieing by the time we get there. Since there is a dress code I have to wear a dress and some sort of shall over my shoulders to be respectful. We go into the church and kook at all the old paintings and bible we also see a cellar that had skeletons galore. There wore skulls and bones and every thing. It was so creepy. After that we go and look down the cliff. If goes so fare down it would be a straight plummet to certain death. Next we go into the museum of history and folklore in the monasteries its full of how the monks fought and their costumes and amour. We also go see these awesome scripts from like 500 yrs ago. We also see wear they make there food. The next cliff we went to had a nunnery in it there wasn't much in it just a church and a whole lot of closed doors. After that we went to open more monastery and this one was a little more interesting than the last it was the same monastery that "For your eyes only" was filmed in the James bond one. It was really interesting it was really precarious to but outside it was a W.C or a water closet. AKA. Bathroom and it was right next to the side of the cliff and had toilets that were not above ground but in the ground and you had to squat to do your business. Then we had to go because we had to get back to Athens on the car ride there we stopped at this little Greek restaurant and got sausage and we had two orders of it big mistake. Well it was Easter that day so there was the owners grand kids who were there, and they were celebrating Easter, so we watched for a little bit and the mom gave us some Greek candy. Well that's all for today we just drove home after this alrighty bye.
