Delphi...........We are driving to Delphi. We rented a VW Polo from National car rental. It's a 3 or 4 hr drive to Delphi; about the same as going Bozeman, MT. Driving through downtown Athens was mayhem; plus the car has a stick shift which is not smooth either. It's back and forth and around, but finally we are on our way. We pass vineyards and olive gardens (hahaha) and finally we get to a little mountain town called Arovia. It's gorgeous everything is on a steep mountain slope. Also, it's how I imagine Vienna. We first walked up 259 steps (i counted) once we got up, there is was a restaurant we wanted to go to but it was closed. So we hiked down through beautiful cobblestone streets full of flowers. It had this magical air about it, a lot like Jackson Hole. We get to a little restaurant and ordered spicy cheese dip on good bread. This town, by the way, is a ski town like Jackson. There are snowboard and ski shops and ski bums. Now we are on are way to Delphi.

Delphi: Stayed at a great hotel and went to the second most sacred site in Greece, ruins of the Oracle including the Temple of Apollo. There TONS of middle school and high school students on tours from all over Europe. We hiked up a very steep hill to the Temple of Apollo; put our hands to our ears and listened. We also went up to a Hippodrome among the ruins that held a similar competition as the Olympics. The ruins where preserved pretty well.
