A morning cruise aboard the Fiordland Navigator then the complicated journey back to civilisation: a boat, a bus, another boat, then back to Slug, our permanent bus.
Pretty much a road day, with a lunch stop in Te Anau, a quick stop in Queenstown where Andy went shopping for sunglasses, having managed to break his on en route to Doubtful Sound. Then the pair he bought in Queenstown broke the moment he unfolded them, so it was a quick dash back to the pharmacy where he bought them, who kindly exchanged them without a quibble, and a quicker dash back to the bus stop as he was late for departure time!
The rest of the journey was through fairly arid mountainous terrain, but with colourful flowers scattered along the roadside to brighten things up.
We hit Lake Ohau (means "windy place") late afternoon, and after a catered dinner of lasagne and then photos by the lake, everyone hit the two large hot tubs on the deck, overlooking the lake, for a convivial evening of wine and tubbing. Just like being home!
