The last 2 days in Spore were spent with visiting Kampung Glam and Arab Street, the Malay part of town and getting all hyped up during Chinese New Year celebrations. In Kampung Glam, I went to see some great performances during the Karnival and visited the Malay Heritage center. At night, I went down to the esplanade where there where Chinese opera performances, lots of food stalls and lanterns and I got to see Spore´s landmark, the Merlion. On Saturday night, it was time to brave the masses in Chinatown for the Chinese New Year fireworks. Mika came from Johor and we met up with Matt and Susan and Priscilla and Brandon. There was lots of pushing and shoving and we finally made it to a rooftop bar where a bottle of beer costs S$10. About 15 minutes before midnight, we found out that we would not be bale to see the fireworks from the rooftop restaurant. So, off we run through town to get to Marina park just in time to see the firework. Well done, people. We enjoyed it very much and later went to a shop to buy some beer and sit near the river and enjoy the atmosphere. Around 2am, Mika and I headed off for Johor, Malaysia.

Here I am now, stuck due to the holidays and waiting for an invitation letter from my Indonesian servas host Tiur. With this letter, I hope to get a 60 day visa for Indonesia (it is not possible to get a 60 day visa on arrival anymore, only 30 day visas are issued) as i would not be able to see the things I wanted to see with just a 30 day visa. Though i am not on a set schedule, i feel i waisted time just sitting there. but time is money and i don't want to pay for a plane ticket out of Indonesia just to come back for another 30 days. I hope to be able to head to KL later this week where I will visit the Indonesian embassy. After KL, I will head to Melaka and take the ferry to Dumai, Indonesia.
