Cruising up the Pacific Coast Highway along Big Sur on our way to Santa Cruz, we saw elephant bull seals, had a great dinner with the Porterfields in Pismo Beach, and tried to eat as many delicious California strawberries as possible.  

In Santa Cruz, we camped out and rode our bikes into town to check out the amusement park on the boardwalk before riding down to Pacific Blvd for a beer.  We locked our bikes and came back 90 minutes later to find the lock cut and Darren's bike stolen.  It was our first major hiccup of our trip and a bitter pill to swallow.  Here's hoping that's the worst act we encounter on our trip!
