Where I stayed
Thong Lo Area
Overnight in Khao San was a breeze. I had the whole day to go around Bangkok before my couchsurfing host arrives home and receives me. So... I ended up meeting a couple of Malaysian veterinarians, my age, who are doing temples on that day. I joined in. I've done Wat Po but actually wanted to go back anyway since I wasn't able to take enough "good enough" pictures without the tour guide hurrying us up to the next temple. I've done the Royal Palace as well, but the weather was not conducive for a nice photo.. or i thought it wasn't. Anyway, going back was an opportunity to take better shots.. plus, I didn't want to ditch my newly found friends.. Haha! It was a tiring day all in all. We WALKED all the way in and around Bangkok and now finally, I can go to my host, Alana's apartment
She had given me directions from Sukhumvit area to her place. And found it in a jiffy.
I arrived a little bit early which gave me a little bit of time to go around the block. There I discovered (actually me and Candice. Candice is my friend from back home who was based in Bangkok at that time..) ALL SENSES. It's a restuarant-converted house complete with what used to be a drive way, front porch, garden, living room.. the works.. still in its original structure. Basta! It feels very homey.. Nice-homey even. And ah, in the back part of the restaurant is a pond surrounded by 3-4 porches where guests can choose to sit at. Of course the food is really good. Good quality, money's worth.. (wasn't necessarily the cheapest. A bit expensive, really. But hell yeah!)
After All senses, it was straight to Alana's pad. I was greeted by her and two other couchsurfers from Greece! (couchsurfing.org)
To cut the long story short, here's what we did:
Steve Aoki Party in 808 Super Club
Wake boarding in Taco Lake
The best and cheapest Thai Massage in the area.
Crepes and coffee and swimming in one of Alana's close buddies.
This was my first time being hosted via couchsurfing. And it was amazing...
