After a 12 hour flight from State College, Pennsylvania, finally arrived around 2pm in Istanbul Anaturuk airport. Had a pick-up from the hotel that I was staying in. After dumping my lugguage in my hotel room, I took the tram from Sultanahmet (place where I'm staying) to Taksim. From Taksim Square, I walked through Istiklal Caddesi, Beyoglu's main street. (Yes, the first day in Istanbul and I end up shopping :) ) The street is bustling with people and modern brand name shops line both sides of the pedestrian only street. A historical tram runs through the street. I ended my walk at the Galata Tower where I enjoyed a 360 degree view of Istanbul. The view was fabulous! Ended the day eating my one and only doner in Istanbul :)
