What an amazing part of the world. After an eventful effort to get to the airport involving jumping on the wrong train (one that I take alllll the time) as the platform change wasn't announced well!!
A quick drive to Basel, flight to Rome, and change onto my first AirItalia flight which went very well- straight onto a bus to Trapani and a 30 min walk around there before a ferry to the island of Favignana to meet Anil.
Beautiful setting indeed. A small island with a spine of about 300m high mountains down the middle - it was 3 nights of great chats, snorkelling, swimming and hanging out with family Sagaram (Anil, Yas and Stella).
The first day we hung out at a cove of gorgeous light blue water in the morning and saw a gorgeous sunset in the afternoon on the other corner of the island. The next day we rented a boat and circumferenced the island. Not much fish life but gorgeous colours and just stunning weather, not too hot. I was also surprised at how organised the place is, not the chaos I was expecting of Sicily. Amazing highway from Palermo to Tripani - the place seems to have developed despite the Mafia.
