Well, we made it to our rental house in Placencia yesterday evening at 5 pm. Right on schedule. It was well worth the long 3 hour drive, plus the time we spent getting the tire taken care of. The house was set about 100 yards off the main road. We passed it twice before finding it, but then saw a yellow structure peeking beyond the mixture of palm and orange trees. The house is spacious and super clean... which it should be since we are the very first renters and the house was just completed late 2011. The area is beautiful. There are tons of property for sale ... very tempting but we already have enough on our plate.
The lady that manages the property met us at the home to ensure that we knew where to find all the toiletries and to hand over the keys. She lives in the village which is about 5 minutes away, past the air strip. She was happy to see that everything was in order, except for the internet. Wouldn't you know it. The one thing that is MUST and it was not working. I was not too upset being that we had traveled so far and was pooped from our commute. So, we headed out to the Village to get more necessities -- more beans, rice, rum and beer.
My daughters were quite tired too. For the first time since there were 10 years old, they both were in the bed at 9 p.m.
Tomorrow we venture out to pick up Greg's sister then head over to see Greg's cousin's farm outside of Belmopan, the capitol of Belize.
