A long bus ride today but wow it was good. Left the high ground behind, drove past many villages each one fascinates me and has such a charm. Lots of smiling people return my waves. Poverty is apparent but there is no bad attitude. Crossing the border from Ecuador to Peru is an amazing experience. The bus has to drive through the road, this is fair enough but the road is also the market. Vendors selling everything under the sun. Noise, colour and chaos is everywhere. Hundreds of people swarming around. This is technically no mans land neither one country or the other. I am stimulated by the activity and my lack of sleeps is forgotten. A few diplomatic formalities and I am now in Peru. The country is a contrast form Ecuador. much flatter and drier. In fact very dry, many parts do not see rain for years.
Arrice in Punta Sal early afternoon and meet the sea. This is great i�m camping on the beach tonight. First of all on with the trunks and into the wild surf. This is great. My measure of the strength of the surf is if the power of the breaking waves manage to force the press studs on my swimmers to pop. They do! The surf is official rated by me as A1. Wow the waves are strong as an incoming wave catches me and I am tossed like a pancake not knowing if I am facing up or down. Great fun. I sleep well tonight with the sound of the surf as a soundtrack.
