We actually lived in Spring Valley, which wasn't very far from San Diego. While here, I was in fifth and sixth grade. I was elected as class president while in sixth grade. I also was in Boy Scouts and started traversing the ranks. I think I was in three different troops while we lived here. It took us that many before we finally found one that we were happy with.
My Aunt Linda (Uncle Johnny's wife) and cousins Dianne and John came here for a visit. We went to Balboa Park and visited museums. While walking through the park, my Aunt Linda fell down a huge hill. I remember seeing her roll down the hill. Thankfully, she was OK.
I did lots of camping while we were in San Diego. I also learned to Canoe out at one of the Marine bases. I remember that the water we were had on inlet that lead out to the ocean. One of the guys that was learning to canoe got caught in a current that almost took him out in the bay.
We didn't have buses so I used to walk to school. I used to walk through an apartment complex (I think it was the Meadowbrook apartments) as a shortcut to school. When walking through these apartments, a girl once stopped me and asked me how much change I had in my pocket. I took it out of my pocket to count it and she grabbed it. This happened a few times before my Mom came with me and confronted her.
After San Diego, we moved to Kentucky.
