We spent the whole day in the Desert Museum, located in northern Tucson. It's an outdoor museum highlighting various aspects of the Sonoran Desert. During the morning we followed along with a very knowledgeable tour guide who explained the geological history of the region, pointed out various plants and cacti that can be used for food and household items, and anything else you could possibly want to know about life in the desert. He really knew his stuff. In the afternoon Greg and I walked through the rest of the museum grounds and were amazed at the variety of cactus and the scenery. We’ve been in southern Arizona for more that two months and we still say 'wow’ when we see the mountains, desert, flora, all against the blue sky.

We then picked up Star and headed east to Benson. Benson is only a small town but we decided to stay here because it is centrally located among a couple sites we want to see: Tombstone and the Kartchner Caverns. To get to Benson we travelled through more of southern Arizona’s amazing scenery and over some foothills so that at times we had stunning views of the desert and mountains. We just don’t get tired of the scenery here.
