Greg and I saw the film 'Jack Reacher' produced by and starring Tom Cruise. If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t bother. The acting was terrible. But at only $5 a ticket it was a small price to pay.

Thursday evening Bev and Rick came over for supper. During the evening the winds picked up, reaching 50 – 60 mph (almost 100 kph). The sky looked eerie, a brown sunset from all the sand in the air. With the wind came plunging temperatures and since then we’ve had freezing temperatures overnight and highs of low 50s (10C) during the days. Farmers are concerned about their multi-billion dollar crops. The temperatures haven’t broken any records but we’ve come close. Just our luck; we are about 20 degrees F below normal and the eastern seaboard is about 20 degrees F above normal.

The highlight of our week was definitely having Bowzer from Sha-Na-Na here for two concerts and the weekly burger bash. His concert, called Bowzer’s Rock ‘N Roll Party, was a blast from the past. Greg and I worked the afternoon and evening shows and I could watch it again. Bowzer is 65 years old now and still does his signature wide open mouth move. But it’s his humour, rapport with the audience, and stories that are so entertaining. The concerts were on Friday and he stayed for the resort burger bash on Saturday that had a 50s/60s theme and included an antique car show. He emceed the dance contests, posed for pictures, and interacted with the crowd. With almost 2000 people here for the bash he was kept hopping and he loved it. When we told him that we were from Nova Scotia, he said that in 1975 he performed in Antigonish, Halifax, and Moncton. He has quite a memory. Greg spent all day with Bowzer, taking photos of him with his fans and with various antique cars. Greg had a great time.

On Sunday we shopped at the markets since it was our last opportunity on this trip. Then we met with some others from the resort for an early supper at the Olive Garden. After supper we spent the evening with some of our new friends from Cold Lake.

Monday evening was the Art and Jewelry Show at the resort, complete with wine, cheese, and nibblies. Then Tuesday lunchtime we went to the Mexican Fiesta, also at our resort. It was a great opportunity to do some line dancing and say good bye to the friends that we have met here.

We really have mixed feelings leaving here but our travels continue tomorrow morning (Wednesday) --- time to head east.
