Where I stayed
Great Meadow Campground
We drove down the I-95, a toll highway; $13.50 in total for us. We stopped for lunch at a roadside park near the Maine/New Hampshire border. It's on an inlet and there were a few guys fishing for bass, but with no luck. On to Chichester, along a secondary road that leads to Concord, the state capital. The road is dotted with small well kept neighbourhoods; many, many American flags, and many antique stores. Our stop for the day is Great Meadow Campground just a stones throw from Camping World, the Mecca for RVers. It caters to campers, whether they have a tent or a big rig and carries just about anything they would need. We bought a portable BBQ and lots of things for Star, (Thanks to the staff at SSI and OMS for Greg's retirement gifts.) Good prices and no sales tax!
An unusual occurrence on the interstate:
We were near Augusta, where the speed limit is 75 mi/hr, when we could see about 500 feet ahead of us a motorcycle with two people stopped across our lane. We thought they were broken down and would move to the side of the road. Instead, they put their hands up to stop traffic! In both lanes! A very gutsy but stupid move. So we stopped, and other cars stopped, and then hundreds of motorcycles (most with bare headed riders) entered the highway in front of us and then exited at the next off ramp. They must have been part of a rally. But the stupidity…
