So, we arrive in the Cameron Highlands for serious trekking and we have walking issues. Steve is walking like an old giffer and so we started the trekking of gently with a hike out to the Boh tea plantation. The Highalnds are mercifully cool, and have been cultivated by the Brits as enormously extended tea plantations with the crops surrounding you for miles. We had a very civilised session of fresh tea and sones with butter and jam on a verandah jutting out over the plantation feeling very proper and British. Did a few more gentle treks over the next couple of days, and spent new year here too. The hostel had a party that evening with free food and a good old campfire which we sat around drinking and singing along to the guitar man until the countdown. A fairly tame night in comparison to other new years, although the bar bill was unsurprisngly the largest to date, but different and a nice way to see in 2007.
