A visit to the Museum of Folk Art in Lefkara

My little friend and guide, Thodoris is with me here and together we enter the beautiful building.

In this Folklore Museum a visitor can see what life was like in Cyprus a century ago.

Located in a beautiful restored house with a double arch upon entering in a beautiful cobblestone garden, exhibits the furniture and effects of a wealthy family, local costumes and examples of the beautiful lace work of the village.

As I mentioned in my previous entry I was ready to leave the building since I did not like the idea of leaving behind my bag and camera in a locker. I could not comprehend at first why this prohibition, since no items in here need to be protected by the flash of cameras.

After the visit the lady from the museum comes out in the garden to talk to me, but this time she is more polite. She even offers to take a photo of me when she hears me asking my little friend Thodoris to take a picture of me.

The lady tells me that leaflets and printed material with information about the exhibits will soon be on sale, so this was one of the reasons! Ok….since she talks in a polite way, I can understand her.

Anyway, somebody who visits Lefkara should surely come to the Folklore museum.

There is not much to see I can say, but at least the courtyard is really beautiful and the fee is really not much. So, a visit here is worth it!

Lovely entry Popi as always. I have some friends from my company visiting Cyprus and Greece next week, a tour which would last 3 weeks. If I had known earlier, I would have followed them.
