Kyrenia

I had no intention at first to write anything about this place here today, but then again I said ...why not!  At least I have the chance to express and share my thoughts with the people and friends who follow my trips.

It is the 3rd time I come here, but ONLY the first visit touched me so much. It was a visit I had with a cousin of mine and a Turk six months before the agreement of the free entrance in the north. We needed a special permit to pass, and we had managed that those days.

The second time was with a Turk reporter -a friend of mine, a couple of weeks after the borders opened to Cypriots. He showed me a lot back then, and spent a whole day here, visiting other nearby places as well.

I am here today with Tony and Christala for a third time but I don't feel the excitement I had the first time. You see, back then I was probably thinking that one day Cypriots could take what belongs to them but I don’t see it now.

I just feel SADNESS, and injustice.

I will NEVER ask anybody drive me here again, and before leaving I promise myself, I will only return if the place is set free.  This of course might never happen, and here is the injustice I am talking about.

Why visit again, if I need LICENCE to walk in my own country!!!!

Of course the people are friendly, and they do their best to promote the place. There are families behind and they need to work to cover their expenses like we do, but No Thank you…..I am not visiting another time! There are other more interesting and more beautiful places to see in the south…. thank God! And this is what I intend to do as from tomorrow.  Follow my entries and I promise I will show you some very interesting spots on the island.

Its just sad when such things come into practice, especially in a place where our life and soul is.
