Situated at an altitude of 470 m above sea level and 436 m from Athens, Ioannina is the largest of the Region. Stretching along the western banks of the Pamvotis Lake, it is renowned for its beauty, scenic sites and plethora of flora and fauna.
The old town is situated inside and around the caste with its traditional houses that are still inhabited today. The small island on the lake adds more beauty in the City, and attracts many visitors and tourists.
Today Ioannina is famed for its silverware, brassware and wood carvings, thus keeping alive traditions from past eras through finely worked objects that are sold in shops situated in the historical centre of the city.
