We are visiting the Perl Island but it is not actually an island in the way you might have already thought. It is a man-made island. Yes, such miracles do happen in this rich country where locals don't share the same worries as we have for our daily bread and how we make ends meet, struggling to cope.
Qatarians set a high target and they go for it. They have others do the thinking, planning and everything for them. They only invest and expect the very best. When they see that somebody else did something better than them they instantly become competitors and they are out for more setting even higher targets. There is constant competition out here as life goes on.
I guess you got the picture.
So all this beauty you see is built on sand and if you don’t know it you might be carried away
So, come along with me on this new man-made development. We are heading for the West Bay and I am going to show you first a residential area which is by all means beautiful but at this time it is like a haunted place. It is true that there are guards all around and we were followed by one, while another one was watching from a distance and we stopped taking photos the moment the first one walked all the way towards us and politely requested that we stop taking any.
Of course imagine this place with people around, markets and shops….it will be lovely. But I wonder where the investors are at this moment.
The buildings are beautiful but if I had to choose between one of the apartments to a small cottage in the countryside, I would definitely choose the latter
For me the sound of the waves, birds, the morning sea breeze, a friendly touch, a nice positive word, a small wild flower, a stroll in the countryside, a glass of some fine wine, swimming or having a nice book to read are the little things that make my life interesting and these are what I appreciate more in life. Even the words of a grandchild calling me "yiayia or yiayiaka" (granny) are for me, as much precious as money and gold are for others.
So come along to this ride with us this morning and see through my pictures what I am talking about and comment if you wish.
