The Amazing coats of the resort!

The free time we have if I am not among appointments or trips, we are at the beach. The weather is still at its best, the water in the sea warm and even today with the light rain the day seems promising.

This morning the sound of thunder pealing in the distance wakes me up while Yianni is still asleep. Without a second thought I get off from bed and excitedly walk on tiptoe and get out to the porch.  It is raining lightly and there is a smell of earth mixed with scent of flowers in the air. The boats below the coast are wobbling and the only sound is that of the waters. It is kind of cool and I cover my shoulders with a light scarf waiting for Yianni to wake. I would love to have my morning coffee watching the rain but I don't want to wake him –as if I want to have this beauty only to myself!  The moment I start thinking that I might be a bit selfish I hear Yianni calling me.

The light morning rain lasts for less than 90 minutes and by the time we finish breakfast the sun is out again for good. It shines brightly making the gardens and premises look even more beautiful.

I have an appointment at 11:00 am after breakfast in the city and I have some Spa treatments both at the hotel late in the afternoon and at the Thermal Spa of Loutraki. Although my day’s programme is full I want to spare time for swimming even if I have to get to the sea under rain.

We return to the resort late afternoon and the first thing I do is to get to the beach where everybody else is, even though it is kind of windy. Yianni prefers to take a nap instead.

The resort has two long jetties on both sides so even if the sea gets rough people can still swim in calm waters. What I love with this resort is that there are several options of different spots where one can swim. There are sandy shallow coves, pebbled ones and it is the other alternative of swimming outside the jetty which is my favorite and it is the one opposite the Grill Restaurant.

Out here the bottom of the crystal turquoise waters is so clear that I can see fish among my legs. Yes….this is the kind of beach I love. There is echinus on some rocks and I wish I had my snorkel along to pick some. I not only love eating them but also love picking and I even know how to open them. I had to learn how to do this when young because I could not wait my turn to be given some spoonfuls since others were sitting and expected to eat as well. I just could not wait. I love them and they are a dainty morsel. Have any of you tried them? I can buy them from the fish market but I prefer finding them myself!

Anyway, this windy afternoon I decide to swim inside the jetty. I find several people swimming and others sitting by the coast in some lovely spots under the shade of trees or beach canopies mostly reading or having a drink.  There is this lady sitting under the shade in the same seat who seems so absorbed in what she is knitting that I wonder if she ever stops for a while to cast a glance at the coast. Any time I pass by she is doing the same thing as if she hurries to finish the piece before her holidays are over!

There is a beautiful pool opposite the Restaurant and Disco which seems great and there are several tourists swimming out there this afternoon. Of course there are two more pools in the resort one of which is heated –ideal for the cold winter days, and the other one close to the open air theatre.

Unfortunately I cannot stay longer than an hour in the water as I have another appointment but at least I enjoyed being out here even if it wasn’t for long.

Wow! You sure know how to pick the loveliest hotels. But I'm surprised and somewhat perturbed. The weather is perfect, it's still in season, but where is everyone? The hotel looks deserted. Is it usually like this in September?

After so many years you still don't know me! I mean the way I take photos -waiting for everyone to disappear before I take a shot? No the hotel was 80% full but it is huge and this is part of the exciting thing here. Everyone is scattered to different places and you only see them during breakfast or dinner.
