A New Day Today and a New Destination to Explore !

At breakfast ….this time Alexei prepares our coffee, and we discuss the plans of the day. Alexei decides to take the rest of the days off so he won't return to work until after I leave.  Kate has to finish with the papers and my registration proving that I am staying with them first thing before we do anything else today.

We leave the house, and Alexei drives us to the post office.  We have already finished with the papers and we believe that it won’t take us long there. How wrong we were!!!

The women at the post office check the papers and give Kate 2 more forms to fill, and patiently she sits and fills them up.  When however she takes them to be checked there is one letter wrongly put in a square and she is asked to fill a new form again. Time consuming, money to be paid, and you need to be patient with all these procedures! Poor Katia is fed up with the system here, and all these silly papers that are written in Russian and she has to fill. If they were in English I could also help her, but rules are really strict here.

We spend more than one and a half hours ….probably more here, and then we take a bus that drives us to "The Great Catherine Summer Palace".

There is a beautiful park very near the palace and we decide to walk and take some photos. The colors are impressive, the day is really cold, my hands are freezing cold but I need bare hands to take photos, I am dressed like an –onion- and feel like a robot when moving!

The beauty is SO great though, and I am glad that I can bare all the above and still enjoy what I am doing!

We come to the premises where we find a note saying that the Palace is closed.  Of course I am a bit disappointed the first moments but in reality I know that after seeing so many Palaces in my life, all of them look alike.  Katerina suggests that we come the following day but I tell her not to bother or worry at all. I have really seen enough Palaces, and besides….since I will never be a queen, who cares if I see one more Palace or not!  (lol)

We are supposed to meet Alexei here after a couple of hours, out here and we call him telling him all about our new plans.  We decided to return to the centre and visit the Hermitage Museum.

The sceneries are really lovely Popi. Despite the cold weather and uncomfortable winter clothing, thank you for taking these lovely photographs for us.
