Visiting the Private Museum of Faltaits this morning!
We decide to expand our stay on the island just to visit the Faltaits Museum.
I strongly believe that a person visiting the island should visit this museum otherwise it would be as if he has seen nothing!
I left with the best impressions, however my pictures could have been much better, but the light coming from all those windows prevented this from happening, so my photos are not what I expected them to be.
The Manos Faltaits Museum is home to a huge collection of cultural and folk art artefacts, coming from the Skyrian heritage.
The Faltaits family was a very important Skyrian family with roots dating back to the Byzantine. It was here in the mansion that Manos Faltaits chose to establish the museum with the aim of providing information and education to the responsibility of the Greeks to preserve their heritage and tradition.
It also operates as a Centre of Culture and Tradition.
SKYRIAN CULTURE AND TRADITIONAL FOLK ART
What to see:
Cultural and Traditional items, depicting Skyrian art, ceramics, porcelain, embroideries, wooden carvings and traditional costumes).
A rare collection of books by Greek scholars published in different European cities.
A unique selection of paintings dating from 1980 up to the present day.
An impressive collection of sculptures by Nikolaos and Loukia Georganti, - two famous sculptors.
From the small shop in the museum one can purchase a variety of items such as books and gravures, prints on fabric and other unique items.

The sculptures are lovely and touching. This is a private museum? The owner must have spent a considerable amout of time and resources collecting these. WOW!
