So It's been a month and a little bit. It's good to be home. I try and reminisce on Tanzania, but am bogged by summer school and planning for a fall semester in Botswana.

I mention Africa often, and If I could go back and change how I did things. I wouldn't. I had the experience of a lifetime, and I feel like I left behind a small footprint.

Life's a lot about searching. Some people find what they want where they are, others are a little more lucky, and they have to travel. I'm not the oldest or first person to do what I did, but is it so strange to feel like I was?

What did the US do to prepare me for Africa? Not much, but from a United States standpoint, they sent me there. I think what's important is to remember that there IS a world outside of you're 2 bedroom studio on the hardest block in the meanest city. There ARE people, societies, who put family and good values above everything else. Let's collaborate on this, I'm not a huge fan of categories or statistics, but I am a fan of people. We're american, and if your Canadian, you're almost american. If you're from Europe, feel guilty with us. Don't just feel it though! We have the capabilities, we have more potential than anyone, and if you spend you're summers on the couch, get up. Do something. Be.

Somebody out there cares about the money we have, I hate money, I don't even like keeping it, and I can only spend so much on food. It's our duty to people to care about other people. Let's not be silly here. Who really needs Gucci? You don't. You know who could use that money though? Anybody else.

but to digress and regress, don't forget where you come from. We are blessed. We mow our lawns with lawn mowers, and we don't even like to do it. It's easy to be lazy when all you do is work to be lazy. How about, instead, we work for other people? Let's tip a person or two. The way I see it we should go

You---->family----->friends---->other human beings------>The environment

Now I was only out of the country for 4 months, but It took all of 2 days to realize we have some work to do, and the worst part is it's not even that hard. Donate some money, and if you just made a "I don't wanna donate money face" donate more. You don't need it. You don't. Trust me right here. A third of the worlds population lives on less than a dollar a day, so buy the Safeway brand soda and stash that dollar away. Buy somebody out there an opportunity. Dr.Thunder doesn't even taste bad.

Peace,

Grant :)
