Plymouth....where the pilgrims touched down and made a new home. Not too impressed with Plymouth Rock. Don't get me wrong, the town is nice and the sites historic but the rock itself is a joke. Tiny little thing that has been moved and cut and cracked and now rested way down in the ground in the memorial. Did you know that the rock wasn't even mentioned until the mid-1700's when some development wanted to be done in the area and a man protested claiming that the rock was significant. I really think Plymouth Rock has nothing to do with our history other than that it was near where the Mayflower landed. But other than that, cool place. Burial Mound was a tragic spot where the pilgrims would bury the dead during their first harsh winter during the night so the Indians wouldn't know how many lives were lost. Then they planted a corn crops over it. Many Native Americans go to this place on Thanksgiving Day not to celebrate the holiday but to remember the day their freedom began to be taken away.
My cousin Peggy lives in the area and she had us over for the Red Sox vs Rockies last game in the World Series. We had a blast even though the Rockies lost Peggy and PJ were happy for the Sox. Funny to be in enemy territory during the game. I hadn't seen Peggy or PJ in about 6 years so it was great to see them and chit chat.
