Costa Rica Spring 1995
If you've read any of my blogs, you'll already know that I'm a linguist of sorts. Spanish is but one language I have learned in my time, and I would say that it's the one that I feel I'm strongest with. Because of my Spanish speaking abilities, I was offered the chance to go to Central America, more specifically Costa Rica.
The deal was, I would live with this family, who were in turn, paid by the Costa Rican government to feed me, house me, etc. All I had to do was go to a school (more like a very loose college) for 4 hours a day. After class, there were certain days when field trips were offered (for free) to go to museums, cultural places of interest and so on. One of the most interesting places I went to was Mt. Irazu, which is a dormant volcano! You could literally stand on the ledge and look down at the sulfur lake below!
Anyway, Costa Rica was beautiful as you may already know! The coasts were easy to get to, the people were super friendly and the beer was yummy delish! And the food, oh my ... I probably put on more weight there, than anywhere else I've ever been! And to top it all off, the women ... Oh my goodness, the women! Absolutely beautiful ... But I seriously digress!
If there's one place I'd love to return to one day, say, maybe after I retire, it would be Costa Rica. The laid back atmosphere, the slow pace to life and the people ... Oh, did I mention them already? The people were just that amazing! If you ever get a chance to go, don't pass it up! I highly recommend Costa Rica!
