(S) We came to this town kind of by accident. I nixed all the wonderful pensions and hostals in Algeciras, Spain. They were SKETCHY. Chad also tried to get us rooms at two different roadside brothels, but they were strangely full. I guess bright colors and neon really does attract the male species.

We kept driving and made it to Tarifa. I found a hostel I liked (from the 1 page given to the entire town in our guidebook) and it was perfect and super cheap which we like. We stayed there on both ends of our trip to Morocco. It proved to be a perfect jumping off point for Africa as the ferry from the Tarifa port only took 35 minutes.

(C) Tarifa couldn't have come at a better time.  Sara was about to start throwing camping supplies at me because we couldn't find a decent cheap hotel anywhere between Gibraltar and the whorehouses on the outskirts of Algeciras.  It was sad that Sara refused to even GO IN the really nice one we found - that's where the lady in a teddy was on the pay phone in the foyer.  That's when it hit us - neon lights equal prostitution.  Wish I'd known that when I came here in college!  Pretty funny that it took a few stops at "fully booked motels" before we figured this one out.  HINT:  Look for the weird fountain in the foyer.

I could spend more time in Tarifa.  That place is really comfortable and easy.
