(C) All good things must come to an end.  Once again we picked old reliable Accor hotels for our final night.  Something near the airport, with parking, with showers, with bed, etc.  The Magliani Ibis is pretty good for that.  It took us two full luggage carts and a half hour to get all our travel scraps out of the car and into the room for repacking.  Hey look what I found - I forgot all about that fruit we bought two weeks ago...  That sort of thing.

Side story is we made a deal that if we didn't sidetrack on the way to Rome we could go back into Rome for dinner.  We had a few tense moments when I decided it would be fun to stop off at Orvieto on the way.  I know - those of your familiar with a map will know it's not on the way.  But it's not completely off the map either.  My dear wife said that's the stupidest idea I've had in at least an hour, but she didn't express this frustration until we got on the motorway headed north

Anyway, we did finally make it to Magliani, unpacked, and then drove into town.  We decided to head towards the Pantheon and take another look - since it's so stunning.  Then we wandered around and stumbled upon the restaurant we stopped in at on a Sunday night four years ago.  The one with all the horse torture implements hanging on the walls (not really - some sort of ancient equestrian tools).  Anyway, after looking for the perfect place - which we couldn't find - we went back to Il Barroccio.  Once again, Sara is right.  The mood was very different this time.  Instead of being quiet and filled with Romans (which you might expect on a sleepy Sunday night in February).  It was heaving with tourists and the air conditioning was out so it was heaving and boiling.  After some negotiation, we got moved upstairs where I could at least eat without sweat dripping in my eyes!

Then somehow, we found our car, found our way right out of Rome and ended our trip on a pretty good note.
