We caught our flight from Athens to Milan with no problems again! It was a little delayed but the milan airport was voted worse airport in europe according to our LP guidebook. Milan is more known as a fashion and financial centre than for it's tourism. For us it was a super cheap way to get back into Italy (40Euro each). There are only two hostels in all of milan. I find that hard to believe but we chose the less sketchier of the two. As expected the hostel wess less than desireable, but for 16E/night we weren't complaining. We first arrived and had to wait in what felt more like a living room than an office. We sat for about 20min waiting for the manager to arrive, we knew something was going on. Wouldn't you know it the hostel was overbooked. He told us to follow him and took us to his car. He said he would bring us to his other property, oh great. We had no idea where we were heading but were pleasently surprised when it turned out to be a much more respectable hotel. The second night we were even upgraded to a private double for the same price as our original 8 person dorm. We even got the "full italian breakfast" consisting of oj, cappucino, and a prepackaged croissant. We had one full day to see the sites. We first went to the duomo. Europes biggest gothic cathedral, amazing. Something like 300 statues and 200 gargoyles on the outside. Next we went for a stroll through the super rich fashion district. A series of streets lined with Dolce, Prada, Gucci, you name it. Some purses were priced over 1000cdn and most of the big name stores had doormen. We walked around the castle there and then walked along a canal before calling it a night. Our days have consisted of a lot of walking as you can guess and our feet ache every day. Wendy has a nice blister developing on the back of her heel.
The next morning we missed our train to genoa by 10 minutes. Luckily we could exchange it and only had to kill 3 hours in front of the train station. I finally saw my first Lamborghini here. A white gallardo convertible outside of the pirelli building that floored it down the road. The most beautiful sound here yet!
