The western wall as the sabbath dawned in resembled a football match; hordes of supporters dressed in black, chanting, furiously bowing, and creating an electric atmosphere. The performance in the womens section of the wall paled in comparison. they just didnt seem to be getting into it like the men, though I saw one girl in the distance bowing as she prayed, she just didnt have the same vigour.

We managed to arrive as it was all finishing to get sent off for a dinner placement It was to be at Hippy Joes and it as the most incredibly good food I've had in a long time. the first round of different salad things was a meal in itself, but then the carnivores amongst us were then presented with fish followed by chicken, followed by 3 different deserts, and some 'ecological' wine to help it all go down.

The next day there were 2 meals that didt quite match up - you can't cook on the Sabbath. Sat next to me for lunch was a religious guy with a fiery look in his eyes. We got into a conversation abut cucumbers (which are much bigger in the UK than they are in Israel) and I realised that I had not talked about anything fun in a week. Every conversation with every person in the yeshiva seems to end up getting deep. - Partly the place and partly because it attracts deep people. Some really interesting typoes. There is a British guy with his own unique theories about everything from homeopathy to how Israel should become a jewish state; then in my dormitory there is a guy who walks around as if he is totally enlightened ..he explained to me the other day how water has consciouness; the guy with dreadlocks, the list goes on.

By the third meal I was getting vey full and bloated. It took 2 days and a trip to the gym to feel normal. and to think they do this every week.
