Where I stayed
Day 6- Martha's Vineyard -> Newport, RI -> Block Island
After a light breakfast, I rode back to Oak Bluffs to catch the ferry to Newport, Rhode Island. The Vineyard Fast ferry arrived in Quonset within 90 minutes, then I rode to Point Judith along State Route 2. There wasn’t a designated bike trail, but the wide shoulders of the road and light traffic made for a relatively easy trip.
The Block Island Ferry left from Point Judith and arrived in Block Island in less than 30 minutes. This busy island is a popular tourist destination, so I was more than ready to explore the south end of the island where there is a lighthouse and park.
I spent the evening at the spacious Rose Farm Inn. The sprawling property made me feel like I had suddenly found my own peaceful and private place free of the tourist congestion. After a quick bite to eat, I returned to the inn where I soaked in the summer air and gazed at the sunset. The fire pit was very cool, mesmerizing, and made for a relaxing evening.
