Where I stayed
From Vikos gorge we headed further inland to Meteora; a set of incredible rocks with a bunch of monasteries set upon them on the edge of a wide valley with the clear blue Greek spring sky above them. How the rocks got there, why they built monasteries on them and what the monks actually do all day we have no idea; but boy is it fun to walk from view to view, explore the narrow paths and scramble onto pinnacle after pinnacle for another "rock-shot".
Yesterday, as it was Sarah's birthday, we treated ourselves by hiring a rock climbing guide who provided us with the gear and guided us up 80-90m rocks for a morning. It was our first experience of proper, multi- stage outdoor rock climbing and we both loved it and have decided that we need to learn how to do this properly- look out for more pictures of us suspended half way up massive rock faces (sorry parents).
Tomorrow we are heading back to the coast to meet up with Captain Scorchio and to take a boat out into the Ionian islands for a week. It will be great to be by the sea again and get in the water - despite being over 25 degrees and the moment it is still classed as spring here - and that means none of the swimming pools are open yet!

Definately a birthday to remember-I particularly like the 'where's wally' picture of Sarah climbing! (had hoped the white complexion would make her easier to spot) It looks absolutely stunning, can't wait to join you for the next birthday!xx
Can't believe Gordon is spending another week on a boat with his history of sea-sickness! Sailing round the Greek islnds is probably worth it though!
nice hat sarah. Not sure it would catch on!
