Mindo is a small town 52 miles west of Quito, with a rapidly growing tourist industry based on Ecotourism in the Mindo-Nambillo Protected Forest. Small commercial enterprises exhibiting butterflies, hummingbirds, orchids and bromeliads abound.  We stayed at a small inn at the edge of the "cloud forest" and had morning coffee with over 100 hummingbirds.  The birds feel so much at home here that they landed and I was able to take pictures of them on the trees.  One hummingbird feeder (water and sugar mix) last about 3 hours.  Many different types and sizes were coming and going all morning long.
