We made our southwest to our last stop in Tasmania the city of Strahan. The travel books called it a "one owner" town where the prices were high and the service slow. After our visit we agree with them 100%. One family owns most of the good hotels and restaurant's in town (so they control the price) others seem to have jumped on board and built places to charge the same high prices. This was not a stop I would recommend to other travelers.
