Tourists visit the city every year from around the world to enjoy its natural beauty and historic monuments. The Spanish Colonial style permeates every part of the town (as you can see from the many pictures): its houses, churches, squares, parks and ruins, also its traditions and folklore as well (you saw some of this from my Xmas video at the church).
The city sits in a Highland valley (1,500 meters/almost 1 mile) overlooked by the spectacular Agua Volcano (3,765 meters/2.3 miles high). A little further away are two other volcanoes Acatenango and the always smoking, sometimes erupting, Fuego.
During our stay we took a “Coffee Plantation Tour” just outside the city, in which I created a short video showing the process it takes to bring a cup of fresh coffee to you in the morning. It is a very involved, from the growing of the beans to the roasting.
