Where I stayed
Malealea is situated in a remote part of Western Lesotho that is breathtaking in its beauty. This was a chance to experience traditional Basotho life(what they call the Lesotho people). On our first full day we took a guided (5 hours) trip which included:
1. Visit to the school the Makheteng School (see Darcy & the Teacher, and picture of the Pre-School children)
2. Local museum in a traditional hut where you can see plenty of Lesotho herbs and plants.
3.Village walk and garden project Children from the village take you on a walk to their homes and places of interest.
The next day we went on a half day pony trek down the gorge to the waterfall for lunch. The ride was straight down and the ponies did a great job of walking on the cliffs and back up again. The nights were cold and the sky clear, you could see stars forever. We had one of our best times here and will remember the views of the mountains for many years.
