Our first "wild park" visit was this morning starting at 9:00 am and it was something that we will never forget! We drive our own car around the park until 6:00 pm and then went on a night safari for about 2 hours.
Addo Elephant National Park is an elephant park is recognized as one of the country's twenty national parks.
The original section of the park was founded in 1931, in part due to Sydney Skaife, in order to provide a sanctuary for the eleven remaining elephants in the area. The park has proved to be very successful and currently houses more than 450 elephants (we think more), 400 Cape buffalo (only saw 1), over 48 endangered black rhino (did not see any) as well as a variety of antelope species (saw many). Lion and spotted hyena has also recently been re-introduced to the area (saw them in the day and night).
The pictures tell the story!

Greetings from Arlington!
Wow - looks like you've really found the animals (or have they found you?) Reminds me of our 2 adventures to Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda almost twenty years ago.
Super pics of a great adventure. I'm glad that I'm now on your distribution list!
Smiles! Elody
