Where I stayed
We had a short trip out to a couple of H'Mong villages today, they were quite nice and we got some nice pictures. It does seem a bit like a village that is not really operating as it should and all they do is rely on the tourists to buy things from them, the men just seem to sit about doing nothing much and the women get dressed up in their traditional clothes and pester the life out of tourists to buy stuff that they have made. Still it was a nice walk down to the bottom of the valley and back out again, and there was a fairly spectacular waterfall at the bottom.
It the afternoon we visited some of the shops, I bought a new backpack for £6 and a pair of walking trainers for £12, they both had North Face on them, but we are not convinced, although they are both well made and really do look the business, I suppose the test is , how long will they last before they start to fall apart. We needed these as our shoes and backpacks are getting really worn out.
Tomorrow we are going to visit some more villages and then get dropped at the train station in the evening for our second night on a train, wonder who will be sharing our compartment this time.
