The flight from Seattle to SF was good, and the taxi ride in from the airport uneventful. The hotel is great, good location near to Union square and the cable cars, also not far from china town.
We had a walk up to the dock area, and along to Fisherman's wharf. It was all quite lively with loads of shops and restaurants, and we decided to go to Bubba Gump's for some lunch. The place was really busy but we got a table fairly quickly, and the food was really good. It was a bit embarrassing as part of the waiter's routine is to give you a Forest Gump trivia quiz, we took the really easy one and still didn't get all the questions right, Doh!.
we have a trip booked to go and visit Alcatraz on the 21st, just as well we booked in advance as the girl on reception here said the trips were booked solid right through to Friday.

Some more stats..

Todays flight was flight number 9.
Airports visited 11 (Seattle was quite nice)
Country count is now 6 USA, Costa Rica, Belize, Guatemala, Mexico and Canada

Well today we mostly went for a walk, and it was a bit of a hike, but we did see a lot of SF.
the plan was we walked to the Golden gate bridge and back. We took a bit of a detour on the way to look at Lombard street the curviest street in the world (and the one with the most flowers). The walk to the bridge was good if a little cold (lots of mist or fog), then we got to the bridge and it was really cold. We still walked the Bridge which is huge with 3 lanes of traffic in each direction and loads of bikes and people sharing the one walkway that was open. An interesting experience, not sure the bike people really wanted walking people on the bridge and vice versa. All i know is we didn't respond to them dinging their bloody bells when they were behind us and they felt we were in their way. One really persistent "dinger" deserved to have his bike meet a watery end in the san francisco bay, Grrrr!. I thought it was a nice touch having a help line hard wired on the bridge just in case the urge took you and you felt like jumping off, christ knows why you would it is so high.

On the way back we bought some stuff in safeway and sat on a beach looking out at alcatraz eating our picnic lunch, it was great.

when we got back to our hotel we were a bit knackered and didn't do anything else.
We walked for about 7 hours , I think it was about 14 miles in total, and being SF it included some big hills. At one stage they had a lorry standing by to push the cable cars up one of the hills.
